Chapter Two
Former public finance executive. Federal prison. Now building again, and talking openly about how.
Amer Ahmad has built two careers: one in public finance and Wall Street, and a second, harder won, in rebuilding a life after losing everything. He served as Comptroller of the City of Chicago and CFO of the Ohio State Treasury, following an early career in investment banking. In 2014, a federal conviction sent him to prison.
Today Amer is co-founder of NextLM, an AI-driven sales intelligence platform. He holds an MBA from Harvard and a BA from Columbia, and lives in Ohio. He speaks and writes about accountability, reinvention, and what it actually takes to start over.
